⚠️White-collar recession in the US continues

The US professional and business services job sector has been shrinking for 1.5 years

The US professional and business services sector has lost 248,000 jobs since May 2023.

Jobs have dropped for 17 months straight, the longest stretch since the Great Financial Crisis.

The hiring rate in the sector has dropped from 6.4% in 2021 to 4.3% in December, the third-lowest since in 15 years.

White-collar hiring levels are now even lower than during the 2020 Crisis.

In the past, such a weakness has never occurred outside a recession.
