The US budget deficit fell $76 billion in March from the prior year, to $161 billion, the lowest for any March in 5 years.

Interestingly, government receipts rose 11% to $368 billion while spending fell 7% to $528 billion.
By comparison, in February the budget gap reached $307 billion, the second-largest in history.
Overall, the US deficit hit a whopping $1.3 trillion for the first 6 months of the Fiscal Year 2025, the second-highest on record.

This is only below $1.7 trillion recorded during the historic spending frenzy in 2021.
