The US budget deficit could hit as much as ~8.0% under the new bill
Under the The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, annual deficits would average around 7% of GDP over the next decade, according to CRFB estimates. That’s more than twice Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s fiscal target of 3% of GDP
If these measures are made permanent, deficits could climb to as much as 8% of GDP by the end of the budget window.

To put this into perspective, in the Great Financial Crisis, the budget deficit reached 9.8%.
Furthermore, national debt is forecasted to reach $40 TRILLION as early as this year with the Big Beautiful Bill passing, according to Kalshi.
