Global Markets Investor long-term investment portfolio gained 5.56% year-to-date, beating the S&P 500 increase of 1.24% and the global stocks gain of 2.58%. By comparison, world stocks excluding USA and European equities jumped 6.71% and 11.73% year-to-date.

As a reminder, here is the performance for the full year 2024.

Meanwhile, an average US retail investor has been losing money this year and is down nearly 2% year-to-date.

Overall, mom-and-pop investors have underperformed the S&P 500 for the last 4 years straight.
