As the first month of the year concluded it is a time to review my long-term investment portfolio.

In January, there were a few surprises in terms of the global markets performance.

My defensively positioned long-term investment portfolio gained 3.09% last month, beating the S&P 500 increase of 2.70%. Interestingly, global stocks, world stocks excluding the US and European stocks rose even more by 3.40%, 4.92% and 7.92%, respectively.

As a reminder, here is the performance for the full year 2024.

Next few months are setting to be extremely interesting.
