BREAKING: US Conference Board Leading Economic Indicators dropped again in September signaling a recession.

US Conference Board Leading Economic Index is down 5.2% over the last 6 months and turning lower.

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) declined 0.5% month-over-month, to the lowest level in 8 years.

The LEI is also down 5.2% over the last 6 months and turning lower again.

The index has now declined in 30 out of the last 31 months, the longest streak since the Great Financial Crisis, and is down ~17% from the peak.

Over the last 65 years, such a drop has been seen only during recessions.

The LEI index covers US labor market data, manufacturing sector data, building permits, the S&P 500, and US bonds. Its components are largely skewed toward the manufacturing industry which accounts for ~10% of the entire economy.
